Rev.
Dan Shortridge & Family
Rev. Dan and Karen Shortridge have been greatly used of
the Lord at the Dallas Church of God. They have been instrumental
in managing the many church property improvements, building
a fellowship hall, new sanctuary, remodeling and converting
the old church into additional Sunday school classes, adding
additional parking lots, and erecting a new Family Life
Center. Today, the church has become Host to an annual
Campmeeting and Spiritual Rally.
Most
of all, over the years they have been faithful in their
commitment to preach and teach the Gospel of Jesus
Christ without compromise. Pastor Shortridge came to the
Dallas Church of God in 1975 and has served on the Church
of God State Youth Board, Evangelism and Home Missions
Board, and the State Council. Many have been blessed with
his preaching in Camp Meetings, Prayer Conferences and
on Foreign Mission Fields. His heart is in proclaiming
the truth of God’s word with a love and compassion
for the lost. He has proclaimed the gospel on various radio
stations allowing his inspiring messages of truth to be
heard outside the four walls of the church. Today, his
message can reach the world through the Internet.
The
family photo shows Pastor Dan and Karen Shortridge with
their sons Matthew and Daniel, daughter-in-law Deana
and grandson Jordan. Not pictured is the newest member
of the Shortridge family, granddaughter “Allison
Parris Shortridge”, born April 28, 2003.
Their
son Daniel has always been drawn to music, writing and
composing many songs for our worship services, singing
with the group “Adoration,” playing various
musical instruments, and leading our choir, the Dallas
Sanctuary Singers, in blessing our congregation in song.
Daniel made his first debut on a family album recorded
in 1971 at 2 1/2 years of age (Listen
to RealAudio Clip of Daniel singing at age 2 1/2). Today, Daniel and his
wife Deana, along with their son and daughter, Jordan and
Allison continue to be active supporters of the many ministries
in Dallas.
Their
son Matthew uses his many talents for the Lord, singing
with his brother in the group “Adoration,” playing
his saxophone in the church band, actively participating
in drama skits to teach children about Christ, using his
artistic skills to design the backdrops of stage plays
and album covers are among his numerous contributions to
the local ministry. Through Matthew’s youth, he has
won awards in state, national and international teen talent
competitions. Matthew is a tremendous vocal artist that
will bless your soul with his anointed singing. (Listen
to Matthew sing Who Can Satisfy in RealAudio)
Every member of this family has been instrumental in touching
the lives of others for Christ. We, at the Dallas Church
of God, give God all of the glory for this type of spiritual
leadership and Christian example to encourage people to
follow Christ. (Listen to Outside
the Gate in RealAudio)
